Welcome

     The Oxford High School Vocal Music Program is an elective academic subject geared to give any individual the opportunity for a music education.  Every student who enrolls in vocal music will be accepted and placed at his or her present level of performance and ability. The expectations are that each student will give positive contributions to the music department. These contributions encompass: self-improvement through a positive attitude and quality practice habits; proper preparation and dependable attendance for rehearsals and performances; and the development of respect and responsibility toward themselves, the ensemble, and the music that is performed.

 

Goals for our program include:

• Strengthening our singing and performance abilities.

• A reflective attitude towards rehearsal and performance.

• Growing sensitivity to aesthetic qualities of music.

• Obtaining a basic knowledge of sightreading, music theory and history.

• Growing enjoyment creating original musical ideas and performing music in both formal and informal settings.
